Madison
Madison is the capital of Wisconsin and home to the flagship campus
of the state's university system.
Most of Madison's governmental and university campus area
lie along an isthmus flanked by Lakes Mendota and Monona, which add to
the area's beauty and recreational opportunities. Cyclists and cross-country
skiers have hundreds of miles of trails to play on in Madison and beyond,
in the adjacent farm country of south-central Wisconsin.
Other areas of interest, in addition to the State Capitol
and the University of Wisconsin, are the Chazen Museum of Art, and the
Madison Children's Museum. Several performing arts groups are based in
Madison, including the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, the Wisconsin Ballet
Company, and a theater company.
